Here are a few basic tips you might just not have thought of:
- Create a “to do” schedule (book the kennels, arrange last clean, etc.) and a “to buy” list (box tape, permanent marker, bubble wrap etc.)
- Number every box and put the room it needs to be delivered to i.e. “1 kitchen”
- Have a list in a book with each box number and items that are in that box
- Pack least used items first (this can be done months before the move)
- Put heavy items such as plates in smaller boxes and light items such as linen in the large boxes
- Use empty suitcases for the things you will need first in your new home
- Pack charging devices last
- Declutter - Do not pack anything you don’t want or need
- Leave clothes on hangers and wrap bundles in a sheet
- Take pictures of box contents
- Keep important items off the moving truck
- Ask for help and accept that stress is a normal part of the moving process
